Product Overview

Radium Engineering Fuel Surge Tank Hanger for Mazda FD RX-7

If you're looking to enhance your Mazda FD RX-7's fuel delivery system, the Radium Engineering fuel surge tank hanger is a fantastic choice. This innovative design allows you to install 1, 2, or even 3 aftermarket high-pressure pumps, along with a lift pump, all within the stock fuel tank of your RX-7.

Say Goodbye to Fuel Starvation

One of the standout features of this surge tank is its integrated 1.85L capacity, which effectively eliminates fuel starvation. Plus, you won't need to worry about any grinding, bending, or modifications to your trunk floor—it's a straightforward drop-in solution!

Easy Plumbing and Connections

Setting up your aftermarket -AN hose plumbing is a breeze thanks to the thoughtfully designed ports. The 10AN ORB threaded feed port comes with a low-profile 8AN male fitting, while the 8AN ORB threaded return port features a low-profile 6" male fitting. To make things even easier, we've included barb fittings to reconnect your OEM feed and return hoses.

Robust Electrical Connections

The custom-designed stainless electrical studs are built to handle the high current demands that typical bulkhead connectors struggle with. These connections are not only serviceable but also sealed to resist all standard and exotic fuels. To prevent any accidental short circuits, nonconductive acorn nuts are included, and the high-quality in-tank wiring is insulated with chemically resistant ETFE. You'll also find all the necessary electrical hardware for your fuel pump(s), OEM level sender, and OEM temperature sensor.

Integrated Surge Tank Benefits

Fuel starvation can be a real issue for the FD RX-7 due to its tendency to experience high lateral Gs, causing fuel slosh. Thankfully, Mazda designed the gas tank with a large bolt flange pattern, allowing for various upgrade options. To keep your surge tank functioning properly, a lift pump is essential. This lift pump sits in the rear of the OEM sub tank and is mounted securely with a baffle to ensure it always has fuel to draw from.

How It Works

The 1" check ball allows fuel to enter the surge tank during acceleration while trapping it during deceleration. The lift pump sends low-pressure, high-volume fuel into the surge tank, where a special deflector ensures even distribution, preventing air bubbles and foaming. When demand is low, excess fuel overflows back into the OEM sub tank.
